This material has the luster of silk and the softness of cashmere, but with the spongy fullness and lightness characteristic of wool. The yarns are made using techniques developed over many years at a Japanese cashmere spinning company, a method of slowly twisting and dyeing yarns at low temperatures to prevent damage to the precious raw material. The softly knitted product is then shrunk in hot water to swell the fibers and make the knitted fabric tighter, resulting in a lighter weight and more comfortable feel.
